The
Counterfeit Police have been together for just over 10
years. They were formed by Paul Metcalfe in 1999 when he finally
gave in to the pressure from friends and fellow musicians who
kept commenting on his vocal and physical similarities to Sting
and how he should form a Police Tribute Band! The
band all grew up listening to The Police and to be able to go
out there and do it, and do it well, gives them a great buzz.
Paul Metcalfe (Sting)
has over 25 years' experience as a professional singer and entertainer.
He has a dynamic stage presence and an awesome vocal ability which
together with his looks mean that people could be forgiven for thinking
they were actually watching the man himself performing on stage.
He likes to keep it quiet but he appeared as Sting on 'Stars In Their
Eyes' a few years ago.
Andy Marshall (Andy
Summers) and Anthony
D. Kiley (Stewart Copeland) are both highly
experienced and talented musicians who have a string of credits between
them including The Blow Monkeys, Chris De Burgh (Tony
is a permanent member of both bands), George Michael, Shirley Bassey,
Dina Carroll, Curtis Mayfield and Bjorn Again.
The Counterfeit Police perform
all the huge hits in the show including Roxanne,
Every Breath You Take, Message In A Bottle, Every Little Thing She
Does Is Magic, Don't Stand So Close To Me, Walking On The Moon, De
Do Do Do De Da Da Da, So Lonely, Spirits In The Material World, Can't
Stand Losing You, Invisible
Sun, King Of Pain and Wrapped
Around Your Finger. They also,
whenever possible, like to include other great Police tunes in the
set such as Bring On The Night, Synchronicity
I, Synchronicity II, Bed's Too
Big Without You, Driven To Tears, Tea In The Sahara and more.
